Mostly I haven't been blogging so much lately because my laptop has this little glitch where every couple of words I type the cursor jumps back three words. At first it was just confusing and frustrating. Now it really pisses me the eff off.

Memorial weekend was pretty good. I got talked into going out to lunch with John and Bill and Bill's new girlfriend. It was exhausting. It takes Bill thirty minutes to tell a story... the first time. It gets longer the second and third go around. After the fourth time I was looking for something dull to remove my frontal lobe. I've really gotta stop being so nasty.

We watched movies most of the weekend. Netflix and Redbox. We also discovered a new burrito/taco place in Putnam called Turtle's Tacos. It's pretty much our favorite place on earth. We also ate lunch at the Ternowchek's yesterday and were thoroughly entertained by Miss Kendall. She can count to thirteen now. Because that's the number of stairs in the house.

We got a new couch but we don't actually sit on the upholstery on account of having cats and also on account of the cats having fur and claws. So we keep our 'spensive couch covered with a $15 thermal blanket. It's completely worth it.

John and I sat around for a couple of hours this evening and talked about the places we'd like to re-visit. Nearby places. Portland, ME. Stockbridge, MA. That awesome farmer's market in VT. Places that won't be so convenient once we move.

On the way to the airport on Wednesday, US Air called to let me know that my flight to Laguardia was cancelled and that I would now be flying into Philly. Super. Then I get to the airport and find out that the flight to Philly is delayed because some joker had a "medical emergency" right before take off and they had to go back to the gate and de-plane his ass. So I sat with all the other happy people and waited. I've been in four different airports in the past few days and I gotta tell you: People amaze the shit out of me. I watched some chick in full out contempo-business attire do her stretches square in the middle of everyone in the waiting area. I'm talking ass in the air, leg propped up on the back of someone else's seat, two inches from the faces of every body and their brother. I couldn't stop laughing. On the flight back home I had a layover in DC and got to witness a middle aged white dude trying to explain to a Hispanic lady that the reason she was having a problem seeing her cell phone was because the sun was shining through the window behind her and that she really needed to move to another seat. He actually got up from his seat and walked over to her and explained light re-fracturing. The lady looked a tad bewildered but clearly I was the one most traumatized. Just when I feel pretty confident that 35 years of being my Mama's daughter has inoculated me against embarrassment, people gotta go and do shit like that.

It rained all night and I tossed and turned and shed clothes and fought my numb arms and finally had to search out my carpal tunnel brace at four this morning. Plus, I had a dream that John and I were at Mama's houses and it was storming there and all of a sudden we heard this terrible trembling sound. I tried to tell John to run into the inner hallway with me but a tornado blew through the center of the house and lifted me to the ceiling. It was like being in an elevator. It only lasted a few seconds and I wasn't hurt but it left my heart racing and my body sore from the experience. Afterwards, I told John to feel how fast my pulse was beating and instead of checking my neck, he pressed his fingers to my chin. Which pissed me off at the time but is really so irreverently John that it made me smile later on.

It's still raining. We let the boys out while it was only grey and not wet and they chased birds from the roof of the barn. Now it's back to raining and every one's finally back inside. Drenched and happy and covered in ticks and poison ivy. I can hear John in the bathroom, picking bugs off of Ernie's eyelids and I can't help but wonder to myself how on earth I wound up with a man who pronounces the word eye, "I". And not "Ahhh" like me and mine do. And hand "hand" instead of "hey-und". That too makes me smile.

I got the carpal tunnel syndrome which always makes me think about this cartoon I saw years ago of the haggard, saggy-boobed secretary who's wearing a cardigan and a carpal tunnel brace. It didn't show the ten cats she had waiting on her back at her tiny apartment, but they were obviously implied.

Mama's spending the next couple of weeks with Angie so I decided to kill two birds with one stone and fly down to Kure Beach on Wednesday. I think that I might finally get myself a vacation. Weather provided, I will lay on the beach and drink beer one day. The other days I will do fun Wilmington things like historical tours and thrift shopping.

Tomorrow I have to do laundry and maybe hit up a few yard sales. I know this is all less than riveting news but I'm trying to get back in the habit of blogging on a regular basis.

Dear House-

You will have hardwood floors and a kitchen sink deep enough to bathe a baby. You will have a cellar/basement for John to hide in when the weather goes all medieval. You will have a front porch for rocking and plant hanging. You will have a sufficient number of cabinets and closets and high enough ceilings and plenty of windows. Also, your plumbing and electricity and roof will be superb. And lastly, you will be affordable.

We will love you forever.

Mother's Day lunch at Wright's Mill Farm with my Ternowchek family. Even though I'm not a whole lot of fun these days I still love my time with all of them.

We kept the boys inside today. They didn't thank us for that.

I am ridiculously mercurial today. I am achey and feeling strange on the inside. Yesterday we attended our landlord's funeral... such a sadness.

Mostly this weekend I've read some- A Confederacy of Dunces -and watched a few movies- An Education, Neverwas and Easy A.
